I will be at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, Washington with fellow joke slingers David Crowe, Eddie Gossling, Megan Mooney, and Cash Levy Saturday, Feb. 13th at 6:30 and 9PM, and then all of us will shuffle up to Seattle for shows at the Moore Theater at 4 and 7:30 PM. Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Showdown…
Well, it’s that time of year again. The time Comedy Central encourages their comics to harass their fans for on-line and text voting. Hooray!! Last year, I placed 3rd in this contest. Because of that, they gave me a One Hour Special, which has already been filmed, and will air in the Spring (I will announce the official date as soon as I get it). This year, if I place well, hopefully I will get a really good air date, and more re-airings of the new special. That means more times to watch it for you! (let’s just pretend TiVo and Youtube don’t exist for a moment). Seriously though, the top 20 vote getters will have their half-hour special aired on Jan. 31st in a countdown to number one. A lot of people watch this stand-up marathon every year, and placing well last year introduced me to a lot more fans. So, please help!! Well hello!! Good news, punchlinemagazine.com is by far the best, most comprehensive stand-up magazine out today (there isn’t a readily available print magazine devoted to stand-up that I know of), and these dedicated comedy geeks have just added my new CD, “Revenge is Near” to their annual top 10 list. I’m in amazing company – Patton Oswalt, Maria Bamford, Doug Benson, Doug Stanhope, Greg Giraldo (a deserving #1!), Laurie Kilmartin, Marc Maron, Matt Kirshen, and Paul F Tompkins round out the list. The Tonight Show with Conan and Dan
First, thanks to all of you who watched my debut performance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien this past Wednesday night, November 25th. I had a great time and I felt good about my jokes! Sure, that studio audience could’ve fired up some applause a little earlier in the 5 minutes I was allotted, but, the laughs were there the whole time, and they came on strong in the 2nd half. Much better than vice versa. Here, watch for yourself, and feel free to leave a gratuitous comment. Thanka you!
The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien!
Okay, I never really watched stand-up comedy growing up, other than coming across some accidentally on HBO in the middle of the night hoping to find a movie with nudity or BN (brief nudity), listening to some Andrew Dice Clay tape a friend had, or, watching Eddie Murphy’s Delirious and thinking it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen. I watched sketch comedy. However, I ended up falling into stand-up instead, and after a couple of years, I set four main stand-up goals. I wanted to perform at the Montreal Comedy Festival, on either Letterman or The Tonight Show, to have a One Hour Comedy Special, and to have enough fans to pack small theaters around the country. Well, I’ve performed at Montreal two different years now, I just taped an hour special, and now, on the day before Thanksgiving, November 25th, I will appear on the Tonight Show WITH my favorite late night host, Conan O’Brien. So pumped!! So, please watch, and let me know what you think. Looking forward to setting some new goals now that will help me achieve that last one with the theaters
