The new 2022 Tahoe offers three options for its engine, two of which are powered with gasoline and one turbo-diesel. The standard engine for the Commercial, LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier trims is the 5.3-liter L84 V-8 engine, which has 355 horsepower with 383 pound-feet of torque. The High Country trim’s standard engine is the 6.2-liter L87 V-8 engine, with certified 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine is now available for RST, Z71, and Premier trims as well, with Chevrolet also offering a 3.0-liter LM2 I6 Turbo-Diesel Duramax engine available for all trims.
In terms of gas mileage, the 2022 Tahoe delivers with an estimated fuel economy of 14 miles per gallon in the city, with 20 mpg on the highway for the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engine. A new 10-speed automatic transmission is now standard on all trims featuring V-8 engines.

The new Tahoe also impresses with a large towing capacity. The Tahoe currently has a maximum towing capacity of 8,400 pounds, with the standard 5.3-liter V-8 engine. 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe Safety Features & Technology
By far one of the biggest updates with Chevrolet’s new 2022 Tahoe is its enhanced safety and tech features. All 2022 Tahoes are equipped with Chevy Safety Assist, which includes a package of six advanced safety features and driver assistance. These include forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, and intellibeam high beam assist to make sure you can get where you need to go with peace of mind.
Some of the other safety features now standard on the 2022 Tahoe include Buckle to Drive, which prevents the driver from shifting out of park without them and the front passenger fastening their seatbelts, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Additional safety features include adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, HR surround vision, safety alert seat, and OnStar safety and security.

The system also includes Bluetooth audio streaming for two devices at a time, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capable, cloud-connected personalization, and enhanced voice recognition.
Drivers of LT, RST, and Z71 trims can upgrade to the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system with connected navigation. The LS trim now has the same 8-inch diagonal Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system that was previously standard on the base Commercial trim.
Front and rear park assist are also now standard on all trim levels of the Tahoe, allowing drivers to park with ease. Premier and High Country models now include reverse automatic braking and Premier models also include adaptive cruise control and an enhanced display and alert package. This available package includes HD surround vision, a heads-up display, a rear camera mirror and washer, and a rear pedestrian alert.
