  • Overview

Big families need big vehicles; that is a fact. It’s no secret that sedan and compact crossovers simply won’t cut it when it comes to transporting a 6- or 7-person family to an outing, and that’s why large SUVs like the 2021 Chevy Suburban are so special. This massive vehicle is bigger and better than ever before, and it’s loaded with the coolest tech gadgets available in the auto industry. So if you are thinking about upgrading to a full-size SUV any time soon, this is likely the vehicle for you!

The Chevy Suburban has been a best-seller for over a decade. But this model takes things to the next level with 19% more cargo space than before. This is mainly due to the lengthened wheelbase that has gained 4.1-inches. This pushes the rear cargo up from 39.3 cu.ft. to 41.2 cu.ft. It also expands the maximum cargo space to 144.7 cu.ft. and increases the third-row passenger legroom by 2.2-inches. That means that there is plenty of room for sports gear, backpacks, and luggage, and it also means that your kids can grow into the third-row seating.

Plus, this model is available in nine unique shades, including Black, Summit White, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Empire Beige Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, Shadow Gray Metallic, Graywood Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat. These colors are really great as they allow every driver to pick the personality of their vehicle. But there is so much more to the 2021 Chevy Suburban, and to learn the gist of it, an in-depth look is necessary.

  • Performance

If you’ve ever sat at the back of a bus during a long road trip, you know that larger vehicles aren’t famous for their comfortable handling. Luckily, the 2021 Chevy Suburban isn’t like most large vehicles. It offers a smooth ride experience that keeps you comfortable no matter how long you sit inside the cabin. Plus, with three engine options, drivers get to pick their experience.

    Smooth Sailing in the Suburban

The high comfort level of the 2021 Chevy Suburban is mainly due to the air ride adaptive suspension and magnetic ride control systems. The air ride adaptive suspension system provided an extra 4-inches of ride higher adjustment. It even levels the load at all four corners. Meanwhile, magnetic ride control helps to reduce vibrations, bouncing, and body roll resulting in the smoothest ride you will ever experience. If you have children who suffer from motion sickness during car rides, this will be very beneficial to them.

    Three Great Engine Choices

The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 that uses a 10-speed automatic transmission and RWD. You can also opt for a 4WD system and either a single- or two-speed transfer case. This powerful engine produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and has a fuel economy around 18 MPG combined. It can also tow up to 7,700 pounds with the 4WD system and 7,900 pounds with RWD. Equipping this model with the Max Trailering Package will pump those numbers up to 8,100 pounds and 8,300 pounds.

The other powertrain that you can opt for is a turbodiesel 3.0-liter I-6 motor coupled with the same transmission and drivetrain options. Producing 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, this model gets an astonishing 30 MPG combined. This is perfect for those who want extra towing power and increased fuel efficiency.

The last option is a 6.2-liter V8 engine that is paired with the same transmission as the other options. It pushes out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, and it can haul 7,500 pounds with RWD and 7,800 pounds with 4WD. If you add the Max Trailering Package into the mix, it will ramp up the maximum towing capacities to 7,900 pounds and 8,200 pounds. This is a fantastic option with great performance, but that is not to say that the others are not excellent choices. In all, these options allow every driver to get exactly what they need out of the Suburban.

  • Safety

Aside from size and strength, one of the most important things that families tend to look for on an SUV is safety. Most people want a vehicle that works hard to prevent accidents on the road. Everyone knows that full-size SUVs are expensive. So, folks want to be sure that they are getting their money’s worth. Luckily, the 2021 Chevy Suburban is loaded with advanced safety systems to help keep your family safe on the roads.

    Suburban Safety

First, all of the Suburban models come with automatic emergency braking. This system uses front-facing sensors to detect any obstacles that are directly in your path. If an obstacle is detected and no action is taken on your part to stop the vehicle, the system will take control of the brakes. It will quickly slow the vehicle down until it comes to a full stop. Another great safety feature that you can add is the best-in-class HD Surround Vision camera parking system. It includes a total of nine exterior cameras that are used to provide you with a 360° view of your surroundings. Perfect for crowded parking lots, this operation will help prevent fender benders.

Pedestrian detection is another safety system that comes on the 2021 Suburban. Using rear sensors, it detects when a person walks behind your vehicle. It comes in quite handy when you are in a parking lot because people typically walk behind cars without checking to see if those cars are about to leave. As a rear pedestrian alert system, it will prevent you from hitting anyone.

Finally, our favorite safety systems for the Suburban come in the form of trailering systems. Driving with a trailer in-tow can be very dangerous. Trailers can be challenging to hitch, and they can sometimes drift off to the side during travel. However, with the trailering safety systems that Chevy has integrated into the Suburban models, you won’t have to worry about any of those things anymore. These systems include trailer profiling for easy hitching, side blind-zone alert to avoid side-swiping other vehicles, and a temperature/tire pressure monitoring system. All of these features make the Suburban the perfect vehicle to keep your family safe.

  • Technology

The tan interior of a 2021 Chevy Suburban is shown from the passenger-side window.

Technology is a massive part of the world these days. And because of this, vehicles are becoming more and more packed with technology. The Chevy Suburban is no exception to this. With tons of both standard and upgradable features, this SUV is jam-packed with technology to keep drivers and passengers entertained throughout short and long drives. Let's take a look.

    Technology in the Suburban

First of all, there are five digital displays throughout the cabin of the 2021 Chevy Suburban. The most important is a full-color 10.2-inch touchscreen that is used to display the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System and the video feed from the rearview camera. This interface is larger than most other vehicles. Many competitors use an 8-inch touchscreen as the standard monitor size.

It also functions with a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and text messaging, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Essentially, this system can do anything your smartphone can do. Furthermore, it comes standard with several USB ports located throughout the cabin. This ensures that everyone will be able to keep their phones charged. Finally, a wireless charging pad is included on every trim level except for the LS. This innovative device keeps your phone charged without cluttering up the cabin with wires.

Now let’s look at the other four screens. Next, we have an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. It’s crisp graphics help you stay up-to-date with your vehicle’s current stats. The third screen comes in the form of a 15-inch Head-Up Display. This system projects vital vehicle information onto your windshield so that you don’t have to take your eyes off the road. Both the fourth and fifth screens are a two-in-one sort of deal. They are the dual LCD monitors mounted not the back of the front seats. These serve as the entertainment system for back-seat passengers. Each one is 12.6-inches, and they can be used to watch Blu-ray or DVD films and television shows. No one will ever be bored in the Suburban with all of this technology.
