A black 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT is shown from the front at an angle after leaving a Chevy dealer near Charleston.

As a Chevy dealer, we might be slightly biased, but it isn’t any stretch to say that the Chevy Silverado 1500 is one of the finest full-size trucks on the road today. If you’re looking for a Silverado at a Chevy dealer near Charleston, you might know how impressive this truck is. Whether that’s the case or not, we think it’s worth taking a few moments to get a good idea of what makes the Silverado so impressive compared to other trucks within the same class. A few models stand out among the full-size truck market, but one option that has gained some traction in the last few years is the Ram 1500. So today, we thought we would compare the 2024 Silverado 1500 to the 2024 Ram 1500 and see how they stack up.

A World of Difference in Engines

There are many differences between the Chevy Silverado 1500 and the Ram 1500, as you’d expect, but perhaps the most dramatic and remarkable is the kinds of engines you can get on them. Not only do you have more engine options available from Chevy, but you can also get more power at a lower cost.

The Ram 1500 only has two engines available for most of its trims. There’s a standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that offers 305 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque to start off with. This engine has an eTorque mild hybrid system, so we’d expect more power from it, but it’s generally okay. Ram also offers a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine with much better performance thanks to 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. These engines come with just an eight-speed automatic transmission, with no additional options for a ten-speed or higher. While these engines can get the job done, we wish there was more to play with regarding customizability.

A blue 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country is shown from the rear at an angle.

Comparatively, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has four different engines available, giving you much more freedom to get the kind of performance you want. The standard engine is a 2.7L TurboMax turbocharged I-4 that delivers 310 hp and a massive 430 lb-ft of torque, which is fantastic for a starting point and already vastly outclasses both of the Ram 1500’s available engines. If you want something with more power, there’s an available 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 with 355 hp to help boost your driving experience. The standard engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all other options for the Silverado come with a 10-speed automatic for smoother responsiveness.

For the best experience with a conventional gas engine, there’s an available 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 for the Silverado 1500 that delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, as well as an available 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine with 305 hp and a monstrous 495 lb-ft of torque. Alongside these incredible performance numbers, the Duramax is the last diesel engine available on any light-duty truck, making the Silverado 1500 an invaluable option for drivers tackling heavy towing jobs. While one can appreciate what Ram has done with its mild hybrid engines, Chevy comes through with much more power overall, and the value of diesel simply can’t be beaten.

Real Power: Towing and Payload Capacities

We just saw that Chevy gives you more engines to choose from, with greater horsepower and torque offered, but what does that mean for your daily drive? You’ll have a better time getting around Charleston in the Silverado because this improved performance is ideal for daily driving. Beyond that, it can also come through in real-world ways, such as how easy it is to haul a bunch of stuff across town. Whether you are looking to get a load of building materials to a job site or help your kid move into their first apartment, the Silverado is the perfect choice to make it easier.

Maximum payload for the Chevy Silverado 1500 comes with its standard TurboMax engine, which can handle up to 2,260 lbs. For towing, Chevy takes a big lead over the Ram by giving you up to 13,300 lbs of towing capacity on the 6.2L V8 and 3.0L Duramax, while the Ram 1500 tops out at 12,750 lbs of maximum towing on the 5.7L HEMI V8.

Exterior Features and Design

At a glance, it can seem like these two full-size trucks are essentially the same, but once you look closer, some important differences emerge. Consider how you can configure the truck that you’re looking for. Ram offers a limited number of options with just two cab sizes: a quad cab or a larger crew cab. Both of these have two rows of seats and four doors. Similarly, Ram only offers two bed lengths for the Ram 1500: a 5.6-foot bed with about 54 cu.ft. of cargo space and a 6.4-foot bed with just over 61 cu.ft. of total cargo volume to take advantage of.

On the other hand, Chevy gives you far more configuration options so you can get the perfect truck with the setup you need. There’s a small regular cab with a single row and two doors, perfect if you’re looking for something minimal. You can also choose between a larger, two-row double cab and a big crew cab that gives you a lot of room inside to stretch out. What’s more, Chevy offers three bed lengths for the Ram 1500: a 5.8-foot bed with nearly 63 cu.ft. of cargo space, a 6.6-foot bed with more than 71 cu.ft. of room, and an 8.2-foot bed with nearly 90 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside. You can see that these aren’t just more options; they’re also much larger than the two available beds from Ram, giving you much more room to take everything you need along with you.

Interior Features and Tech

Not too long ago, Ram could brag about being the industry leader in terms of tech features. Since then, others like Chevy have caught up with them and even surpassed them in some ways. The 2024 Ram 1500 comes with a standard five-inch infotainment display, though an eight-inch screen is available, as is a larger 12-inch display. High-end models have some comforts like leather-appointed seating, and an available Harman Kardon sound system is a nice touch.

However, looking at the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500, the Ram 1500 continues to fall short. It has a standard seven-inch infotainment screen, which is much better than Ram’s starting display, and a massive 13.4-inch infotainment as an available upgrade (standard on higher trims like the RST and LT) with Google Built-In. You get the perfect truck for driving around Charleston when you pair this with the impressive 12.3-inch color Driver Information Center offered with wireless compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Trims like the High Country also feature a Bose Premium sound system with a Richbass woofer, perforated leather seating, a wireless charging pad, and much more. Add in something like the available Super Cruise hands-free driving system, and you have a technologically advanced truck that nothing else can beat.

Chevy Silverado 1500: The Best for Charleston Drivers

With everything we’ve looked at, it’s easy to see why we’re so passionate about the Chevy Silverado and everything it has to offer as one of the most powerful and impressive trucks on the market. Compared to the Ram 1500, the Silverado 1500 simply does it better and gives you more to enjoy on the road with a highly customizable chassis. That’s why we love offering this remarkable truck to our customers: we know you’re driving away feeling like you found the truck of your dreams. All you have to do now is decide which of the many trims and features offered by Chevy suits you.

A red 2024 Chevy Equinox RS seen from a low angle.

Whether you’re commuting to work or taking the family on a weekend getaway, a Chevy SUV is sure to enhance your drive. There’s an extensive selection in the iconic manufacturer’s lineup, so if you’re a Kentucky driver looking for a Chevy Equinox for sale near Louisville or considering the Chevy Trailblazer, you’ll find both here at Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Paris. Both come with a variety of great features, but which one is best for you when it comes to your travels in The Derby City and beyond? Let’s take a closer look at both models and see which SUV best fits your driving needs.

The Chevy Equinox

The 2024 Chevy Equinox is everywhere, and for good reason. This compact SUV handles exceptionally well on and off the road. It is the perfect size for individuals, couples, or small families, with an affordable MSRP of $26,600[a] There are multiple customization options for advanced features and comfort, as well as a simplified lineup of trim levels to choose from (LS, LT, RS, and Premier). It even has special editions, like the Midnight, Sport, and Redline editions, which offer unique appearance, interior design, and features. (If you’re all about that nightlife, we suggest the Midnight Edition for style and turning heads).

The standard 1.5L turbocharged I-4 engine produces 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque for a quiet ride and smooth handling. It is a great car to maneuver around tight spaces within Louisville and has an aerodynamic design to improve wind resistance. With a decent combined fuel economy of 28 MPG (26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway), this car will seem like nothing could ever stop it. Not to mention, it retains some muscle, though it is a smaller SUV, with a maximum 1,500-lb towing capacity. The two available drivetrains, FWD and AWD, are also there to help with customization and finding practical performance and durability that’s right for you.

The best part about owning this SUV is the comprehensive safety that comes with it. This 2023 model was even awarded by J.D. Power for its dependability in the compact SUV segment, as well as a 5-star overall score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). With the Equinox, you know that it has a celebrated history with many happy drivers who have been protected repeatedly on the road. Feel confident on every journey, knowing that the esteemed Equinox has your back.

The Chevy Trailblazer

The 2024 Trailblazer is a subcompact SUV—a good size for individuals, small families, or couples—perfect for those looking for the SUV vehicle type and size on a budget (with an MSRP of $23,100)[a] Unlike the Equinox, the Trailblazer has customization options for power and performance with two engines: the 1.2L EcoTec turbocharged I-3 engine and the 1.3L EcoTec turbocharged I-3 engine. The standard offers 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, while the upgraded engine gives you 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque, which also provides exceptional fuel economy with a combined fuel economy of 31 MPG (29 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway).

While it only has a 1,000 lb towing capacity, keep in mind that this is a subcompact SUV compared to Equinox’s compact size and does not use the same engine or transmission for the extra benefit of power and performance. It also has the ability to customize the drivetrain with FWD or AWD, depending on your preference. This SUV even has a similar and simplified lineup for its trim options that includes the LS, LT, RS, and ACTIV. This SUV is capable and powerful in a smaller size and provides comfort, convenience, and practical and advanced features (depending on trim level).

The Chevy Trailblazer has also earned rewards and praises for its safety and ability to detect objects on the road, preventing accidents or worse. While the 2024 model hasn’t received anything (as far as right now), there have been previous awards to consider when shopping for the Trailblazer. In 2023, the Trailblazer received an overall 5-star score from the NHTSA, which can help lower insurance costs, as well as a 2022 Top Pick Safety+ title awarded by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Better Technology and Safety

They are very similar in terms of technology features and what they offer to the family or passengers. Both SUVs come with the standard Chevy Safety Assist, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, and everything you would immediately need to drive with more confidence. However, when it comes to checking out the connection, entertainment, and information displays, you may find that the Equinox lacks in size compared to the Trailblazer’s touchscreen. The Equinox has a standard 7-inch display, and even with higher trim options, the Equinox only gets an extra inch on its touchscreen. However, the Trailblazer takes the cake with an exceptional 11-inch touchscreen for your convenience and easier visibility needs.

Cargo Space

With so much to love about the 2024 Chevy Equinox, it doesn’t stop at impressive features, intuitive technology, or head-turning design. In fact, one of the main benefits of Equinox is the admirable cargo hold and space it offers. When you’re going on trips with the whole family, whether that’s to school or the local grocery store, there is a standard 29.9 cu.ft. of cargo room for groceries, school projects, and even luggage.

However, there are those days when you need to bring a new carpet to the apartment or take a new piece of furniture home to decorate the place, and that’s where your transportation comes into place. The big question is, will it fit? With the Equinox, when you fold down the second row, you’ll find a max total of 63.9 cu.ft. of cargo hold space. That is enough to get your needs across the city and back or wherever you’re looking to transport those bigger items.

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is looking to stay ahead of its sibling but remember that this is a subcompact SUV compared to the Equniox’s compact size. In other words, it makes sense as to what we’re about to say; the Trailblazer is a great vehicle with an even greater space for cargo hold. When putting these two head-to-head, the Trailblazer only sacrifices slight space with a standard 25.3 cu.ft. of room, as well as when the second row is folded to offer a max of 54.4 cu.ft. of space. It is still capable of holding many items of various sizes, making this a good choice for families, individuals, or those new drivers in your family.

The Equinox vs Trailblazer

Which SUV is right for you? After all, that is the ultimate question, right? Unfortunately, there is no true winner, especially when comparing a Chevy vehicle to another Chevy vehicle. Both SUVs have standard Chevy Safety Assist features, good power and performance, and similar cargo hold space. They’re also very similar in terms of technology features and towing capabilities. If you’re looking for a practical ride with some capabilities, convenient attributes, and affordable price, then the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer may be exactly what you’re searching for. However, the 2024 Chevy Equinox offers a bit more space, more muscle, and better power. So, the extra money may afford you an overall top-notch ride. Chevy makes some of the most well designed and sophisticated SUVs on the road, giving you numerous models to choose from and enjoy. If you’ve been looking for a small SUV at a Chevy dealer near Huntington, then we suggest the Chevy Trailblazer as the perfect model. This sleek and nimble little SUV gives you plenty of options without going overboard, ensuring you can find whatever you need to enhance your next drive. Recently updated for the 2024 model year, the Trailblazer is even better than ever with bold new looks on the outside and a revised interior that gives you fantastic standard and available tech features. With the Trailblazer, you have four trim levels to choose from, with some important differences between them, so let’s take a closer look at all four and see what they can offer you for driving around Huntington.

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer LS

Starting things off we have the LS trim for the Trailblazer, which gives us the standard features and some available options if you want a few upgrades. This comes with the standard 1.2L turbo engine with 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, which is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). You get front-wheel drive (FWD) on the LS, though all-wheel drive (AWD) is available—this is true for every trim level, so you can pick the kind of performance and driving experience that works best for you.

The Trailblazer LS comes with 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, with black front and rear lower fascias. You get LED headlamps on the LS for excellent illumination while driving at night, halogen tail lamps, and an LED center high-mounted stop/brake lamp to let others know when you’re slowing down. Standard power-adjustable, manual-fold black mirrors come on the LS model along with a manual rear liftgate and other starting features.

Inside the 2024 Trailblazer LS you’ll find the new 11-inch infotainment display that’s now standard in all models, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The LS has a four-speaker sound system, cloth seating, and a six-way manual driver’s seat; an 8-inch color Driver Information Center is also standard on 2024 models. You get single-zone climate control and standard cruise control, while other features like remote start functionality are available options.

Every Chevy Trailblazer comes with Chevy Safety Assist standard, which is a comprehensive suite of advanced technology to help keep you safe when driving around Huntington. This includes a Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking, along with Front Pedestrian Braking. You also get a Following Distance Indicator to warn you when you are too close to the vehicle ahead of you, plus Lane Keep Assist with a Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam auto high beams that can turn off and on automatically to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. Other safety tech like a Rear Cross Traffic Alert is available, but not standard.

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer LT

Moving up to the LT trim, you get a number of upgrades, though many of them are additional options that you can’t get on the standard LS model. In terms of overall performance, the LT is much like the starting model with the same 1.2L engine and features, with 17-inch wheels and a similar overall feel on the road. You get silver-painted front and rear lower fascias with the LT model (remember they’re black on the LS), plus deep-tinted rear glass and heated, body-color side mirrors.

Inside the Trailblazer LT, you’ll find a few nice upgrades like a six-speaker sound system, rather than the standard four speakers, and keyless open with remote start functionality. There are a number of available options for the LT that you can’t get inside the LS, such as an eight-way power driver’s seat, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic climate control. A wireless phone charger is also available for the Trailblazer, starting with the LT model. You can even get heated front seats and a heated steering wheel if that’s something you’re interested in.

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer RS

Next up, we have the RS, which is essentially one of two pinnacle trim options for the 2024 Trailblazer—both the RS and the ACTIV have the same starting price but give you two different fantastic options to consider. The RS starts with a 1.3L turbocharged engine that delivers 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque, which is quite a bit more powerful than the standard engine on the previous two models. We should note that this enhanced engine is available for the LS and LT, but it comes standard on the RS. It’s paired with a CVT if you choose FWD with this engine, though you get a nine-speed automatic transmission instead if you go with AWD.

One of the most striking details of the RS is its 19-inch High Gloss Black wheels that give it a bold and aggressive stance. The RS has LED headlamps and LED tail lamps for excellent night-time illumination and improved visibility for other drivers. Gloss Black mirror caps help create a comprehensive look for the RS and add to its overall style, as does a unique mesh grille and dual exhaust outlets with chrome tips. Inside, you’ll find various improvements like Evotex seating that feels great and is highly durable, with an eight-way power driver’s seat and heated front seats included in the RS. You get a heated, wrapped steering wheel, plus sophisticated touches throughout the interior like a Satin Silver and Chrome wrapped shift knob.

Two hikers walking away from a yellow 2024 Chevy Trailblazer ACTIV parked at a trailhead.

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer ACTIV

Finally, the ACTIV trim lives up to its name with styling and features inspired by Chevy’s impressive off-road vehicles. This model comes with the same 1.3L turbo engine as the RS, giving you excellent performance and a great vehicle for zipping around Huntington. You get 17-inch high gloss black wheels on the ACTIV, wrapped in Sport terrain tires that help give you excellent traction on dirt and gravel roads. Titanium chrome-plated front and rear lower fascias set the ACTIV model apart, ensuring it grabs attention everywhere you go, plus you get the same impressive LED lighting as on the RS.

Inside, the ACTIV has many of the same features as the RS, such as Evotex seating, an eight-way power driver’s seat, and much more. Many of the same available features are also offered here, such as automatic climate control, a Bose premium sound system, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Visually, you can get some unique details inside the ACTIV, such as Jet Black seating with yellow stitching, whereas the RS offers red accents on the upholstery to create two separate yet equally striking looks.

Ready to Blaze a Trail Around Huntington?

In terms of overall features and options, we like to look at the 2024 Trailblazer as giving you three main tiers to consider. You have the starting tier with the LS, then a middle tier with the LT that gives you more features and available options, and finally, a top tier with the RS and ACTIV. There’s so much overlap in terms of standard and available features on the RS and ACTIV that it helps to think of them as one option with two different, distinct styles between them. That makes it easier to explore what each of them has to offer you and decide on which combination of features provides everything you need. Then, you can choose the right Trailblazer trim and leave the rest up to us as we ensure you get any final options you want.

A teal 2025 Chevy Tahoe Z71 parked next to a black 2025 Chevy Suburban High Country on the beach.

Whether you live in Louisville or one of the wonderful suburbs of this city, you probably need a reliable vehicle to get around. This is especially true if you have a large family, need plenty of cargo space, or just love to travel throughout the Bluegrass State. While most automakers only offer one full-size SUV, if one at all, Chevy gives you the option of two amazing full-size models. The Tahoe and Suburban give you powerful engines, massive interiors for passengers and cargo, and rugged design to stand up to whatever Louisville’s roads and weather have to dish out.

If you want the latest editions of the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban, you’ll find them here at Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Paris, your premier Chevy Dealer near Louisville. The newly redesigned SUVs offer all the ample space and cutting-edge features you’d expect from Chevy’s long-running full-size SUVs, whether you’re looking for your next family transporter or need the space to haul cargo. Let’s take a closer look at what these two mighty SUVs are bringing to the table for 2025.

A Larger, Best-In-Class Infotainment Touchscreen

One of the first things you will surely notice about the 2025 models of these two Chevy full-size SUVs is the expansive infotainment system. This is a best-in-segment 17.7-inch infotainment screen, the largest one offered standard on any full-size SUV. This allows you to pair your smartphones using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As a result, you can make hands-free calls and texts while streaming your favorite music and enjoying this truly massive touchscreen.

If you are a family driver, you will appreciate being able to keep the kids entertained when you are taking them to school or out to a fun day of adventure at the underground zip lines at the Louisville Mega Cavern.

Chevy has paired this expansive infotainment screen with an 11-inch driver information center. This will provide critical information on your vehicle, with the added size making it easier to see everything from current speed to tire pressure and more.

A close-up of the SuperCruise feature available on the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban.

Cutting-Edge Tech to Keep You Comfortable and Safe

The new infotainment and driver information center screens are not the only technological advancements on the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban. Chevy has added other innovations to these two models to improve the safety, performance, and convenience Louisville drivers will surely make use of every time behind the wheel.

Super Cruise is Chevy’s autonomous driving system, offered on most trims of the 2025 Suburban and Tahoe. With Super Cruise, you can reduce driver fatigue by engaging in a hands-free driving experience. This uses the radar and cameras on the standard Chevy Safety Assist system to guide your vehicle while on a Super Cruise-mapped road. Currently, Chevy has over 400,000 miles of Super Cruise roadways here in the United States, as well as in Canada. This is a great feature to have if you plan on using your 2025 Tahoe or Suburban for commuting or going on long road trips.

Chevy also offers a new feature called Connected Cameras. This available feature works with Chevy Safety Assist to give you 360-degree views around your SUV. When you add this feature to a new Suburban or Tahoe, you can get a live view of your vehicle in real time. This feature will also come in handy if you are involved in a traffic accident. The Connected Cameras system includes an automatic Crash Recording feature. This films the collision so that you can use it for insurance claims or traffic accident lawsuits.

Not every new feature on the Tahoe and Suburban is geared toward safety and performance. The available AutoSense Power Liftgate is the newest evolution in liftgate technology pioneered by Chevy. When you stand behind a Tahoe or Suburban while having a keyfob in your possession, the liftgate will automatically open. This comes in handy when loading the trunk, especially if your hands are full with your purchases or belongings. In the past, most automatic liftgates required a kicking motion that could be awkward for many people. This removes the acrobatic maneuvers, making it easier than ever for shopping trips to Central Station or Mid City Mall.

Three Engines Offering a Variety of Power and Capability

Chevy gives you three engine options on the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban, each with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a 5.3-liter Ecotec3 V8 gas engine that delivers up to 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. There is also a larger gas engine with greater output; the 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 provides 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. If that isn’t enough power, you can opt for the RST Performance Edition package on the 2025 Tahoe, which boosts output to 433 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. This package is not available on the Suburban.

The other engine is an improved diesel. The 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel I-6 gives you improved fuel economy, as well as amazing performance. The 2025 models can deliver up to 305 hp and a massive 495 lb-ft of torque. This is a significant increase over the 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque provided by the 2024 models of the Tahoe and Suburban with this optional turbo-diesel engine.

No matter which engine you choose, you will have the option of rear-wheel drive for better fuel economy and four-wheel drive for improved traction. The only trim that is four-wheel drive only is the Z71. This off-road-ready version of the Tahoe and Suburban also features a set of skid plates to shield the undercarriage from any rocks or other debris you may encounter when venturing off the pavement.

How Do These Two Full-Size SUVs Differ From One Another?

Some Louisville drivers may wonder why Chevy would come out with two different full-size SUV models. These differences between the Suburban and Tahoe will guide you in deciding which model best fits your needs. The Suburban is the longest-running vehicle in the Chevy fleet, having been first introduced in 1935. Now in its twelfth generation, the Suburban offers seating for up to nine passengers, depending on whether you choose a bench seat for the second row or a pair of captain’s chairs.

The Tahoe also offers the same seating options over its three rows as the Suburban but has a very different design. The Tahoe is a newer model having been first offered in 1992. The fifth generation Tahoe was introduced in 2021 alongside the Suburban, but it is a slightly smaller vehicle. While the passenger compartments are comparable, there is less trunk space on the Tahoe than on the Suburban.

When you open the liftgate to the Suburban, you are greeted by a cavernous 41.5 cu.ft. of space. This dwarfs the equally impressive 25.5 cu.ft. of space on the Tahoe. When you fold down the second and third rows of seats on the Suburban, you get an amazing 144.7 cu.ft. of cargo space. The Tahoe opens up to 122.9 cubic feet when both rows of seats are folded down. As a result, the Suburban might be a better choice for you if you plan on moving a lot of things or carrying ample cargo regularly.

On the other hand, the Tahoe may be better if you are looking to do some trailering. No matter which engine option you choose, the Tahoe will deliver slightly better towing capability than the Suburban. For example, the Tahoe with the base 5.3-liter V8 gas engine can tow up to 7,900 lbs, compared to 7,700 lbs with the Suburban. Similarly, if you opt for the turbo-diesel, you will get the most towing capability, with each model able to tow around 8,000 lbs (although the Suburban offers a slight increase with 8,100 lbs). For this reason, the Tahoe may be a better option for folks into fishing and camping, as you will get slightly better trailering in this model.

Two Exceptional Full-Size SUVs With Plenty to Offer

With all of the technological and performance enhancements on the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, you will be getting a full-size SUV that not only offers capacity but also gives you unrivaled convenience and capability. Chevy has shown once again that it will constantly refine the existing models in its lineup, often without doing a complete overhaul. This helps set Chevy apart, giving Louisville drivers like you the options and choices you need to get a three-row SUV that fits your lifestyle. Stop in today and see why your next SUV should be a 2025 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban!

A black 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 High Country is shown from the front at an angle.

Chevy’s iconic heavy-duty truck, the Silverado 2500 HD, returns for another year on the market, helping hard workers, contractors, and DIYers everywhere get their jobs done. As is characteristic of the Silverado lineup as a whole, the Silverado 2500 HD is highly customizable. You can choose from a variety of trims and packages to get you the features you need to handle your particular tasks with ease and comfort every day.

If you’re looking for a Chevy Silverado 2500 for sale near Charleston, we at Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Paris would love to help you choose your ideal packages. We understand that Charleston residents live in a remote area and might face a variety of jobs and activities every day. So today, we are going to look at the three convenience packages offered on the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD. Each one is right for a specific driver, and we would love to help you understand which one is right for you.

The Convenience Package I

We will start with the Convenience Package I, which we think is great for those who tackle light jobs, like handymen and contractors who oversee projects on job sites. It’s also good for people who commute, so if you find yourself out of the city often, you’ll be comfortable no matter where your daily drive takes you.

Here is what it includes. First, you get Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, so you and your copilot can control your temperature. Enjoy a cool breeze on those famously hot Kentucky summer days or some warm heat on brisk mornings. As the driver, you will enjoy a 10-way power driver seat with power lumbar support. This is the very commuter-friendly feature that we love to show off because when you drive across the KY-70 every day, your body can quickly get tired if you are uncomfortable. With a 10-way driver seat, you are in control and can find that ideal seat angle, height, and distance from the steering wheel. The addition of that lumbar support will keep the sensitive lower back region comfortable on long drives.

Another feature that makes this a commuter-friendly vehicle is the inclusion of two charge-only USB ports in the rear seat. If you transport coworkers, employees, or kids to work or school, they will like being able to power up their devices on the go. And you’ll like that they don’t reach into your area to use your charger.

So, what makes this package so great for handymen and DIYers? There are a few features to make note of. One is the LED cargo bed lighting. This will illuminate the bed area when you find yourself at a job site after sunset or before sunrise. Additionally, LED fog lamps will cut through the fog when you have to travel to job sites in less-than-ideal weather conditions. So, while this package is not equipped with features for heavy-duty, trailering, or powering up tools at a job site, it can at least help you find your way there and illuminate your bed contents at a job site.

The Convenience Package II

Now we will talk about the Convenience Package II. This is a terrific package for people who plan on taking advantage of the Silverado 2500 HD’s excellent towing capacity. For example, if you plan on bringing a trailer out for a day of outdoor fun, you can easily hitch it up to the back of your Silverado 2500 HD and control it with this package. We say this because of the terrific Hitch Guidance with Hitch View feature. When your vehicle is in reverse, hitch guidance will show you a guideline on the rear vision camera that helps you line up your hitch to your trailer.

This package also gets you the in-vehicle trailer app, which has many features that help you safely utilize and control your trailer. These include things like pre-departure checklists, maintenance reminders, and a series of tests you can run to make sure that your trailer and truck are communicating properly before you hit the road.

This can also be a good package for families or work crews because of the rear sliding power window. Backseat passengers can enjoy a nice breeze on hot days with this well-placed window. Additionally, the Universal Home Remote can be connected to dozens of garage and gate doors, helping you easily get in and out of the locations you visit every day

The Custom Convenience Package

Now, we arrive at the Custom Convenience Package. This is an interesting package that contains a hybrid of work-ready and city-ready features. It has the 10-way power driver seat with that power lumbar support found on Convenience Package I. It also has a Remote Start, which allows you to turn on the climate control before getting in the vehicle, which can be very nice on particularly hot or cold days.

The reason we say this package is great for times you visit the bigger cities nearby is the Content Theft Alarm. With the OnStar system and Chevy app, you will get an alert if someone attempts to enter your vehicle. Anytime you leave the pristine and quiet neighborhood of Charleston for the busier cities, it is important to keep an eye on your truck’s contents. Furthermore, a rear window defogger will help you see out the back easily. Additionally, two USB charging-only ports for rear passengers once again help coworkers, employees, or kids charge devices on the go.

We also like the EZ Lift power lock and release tailgate in this package. It’s not only good for getting tools, equipment, and supplies for jobs in and out of your truck, but it’s also great for trips to Walmart. But, like we said, this is a hybrid work-life truck. That is apparent through the Trailer Brake Controller, which helps you control the brakes of your trailer from within your truck. It’s also apparent through the 120-volt bed-mounted power outlet. This is great for powering up light tools at job sites. The addition of the LED cargo bed lighting here will also help you complete jobs after the sun sets.

A silver 2025 Chevy Equinox LT driving on a city street.

Residents of Louisville, Kentucky, if you are looking for the perfect stylish compact SUV for cruising around Derby City, the Chevy Equinox is worth checking out. It’s been a standout model in its segment, earning a top spot for long-term dependability among compact SUVs from J.D. Power for its 2024 model and a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2025 model marks 20 years of this excellent compact SUV in the Chevy family. It has staying power for good reasons, and we’d love to show them to you.

We feel confident that Louisville drivers will like what the 2025 model has in store. With three well-designed and distinct trims, the 2025 Equinox has something for everyone. If you’re looking for a Chevy Equinox for sale near Louisville, we would love to help you find your model. Below, we will break down the unique features of each trim to help you decide which is right for you.

The LT Trim

We’ll begin with the base trim, the LT. It’s a practical, powerful, and fun-to-drive compact SUV with plenty of great perks hiding inside. Every 2025 Equinox is equipped with a 1.5 L turbo engine that kicks out 175 hp and is paired with a continuously variable transmission on front-wheel drive models or an eight-speed automatic transmission on all-wheel drive models.

The EPA has not yet released fuel economy figures for the 2025 model. However, given that the 2024 model also had a 1.5 L turbo engine, we believe the 2025 version will see similar figures to the 2024 one, which were quite impressive. The 2024 Equinox saw figures of 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway for front-wheel drive models. Those figures only took a tiny dip for all-wheel drive models. Whether you stay in Louisville or commute to Elizabethtown or Lexington, you shouldn’t find yourself spending too much on gas in the 2025 Equinox.

With the LT trim, drivers will get the standard Chevy Safety Assist suite, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking. When crossing intersections in the busy downtown area, cars can come at you fast. If the vehicle senses that you will not stop fast enough to avoid a collision with a cross-traffic vehicle, Automatic Emergency Braking will take over and apply hard emergency braking to avoid a crash. This feature comes along with other great Chevy Safety Assist features that you might recognize from the 2024 model, like a Following Distance Indicator and Lane Keep Assist.

Every model, including the LT, will have an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen and an 11-inch diagonal driver information center. You can control your smartphone apps on this touch screen and view important journey and vehicle stats on the information center. Additionally, each model, including the LT, is equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot and Google built-in.

The ACTIV Trim

Active individuals who like to load up their vehicle with gear for days on the Campbell-Woodland Nature Trails should check out the ACTIV trim. This is a very exciting addition to the Equinox lineup because it is the first time the Equinox is offering the ACTIV trim. It’s built for adventures and embodies the energetic spirit of the River City.

So, what makes the ACTIV trim so special? First, it gets you all-terrain tires that will give you the grip you need in nearly every type of setting. So whether you want to stay in town or explore muddy, dirt roads, you will have the traction you need with these beefy tires. It also has a uniquely tuned suspension that will keep you feeling in command when you want to explore rugged roads.

The ACTIV trim also gets the drive mode selector. You will find this on a rotator on the center console. Depending on your model, you can choose between different modes that will adapt vehicle systems to optimize driving dynamics in different situations. Front-wheel drive vehicles will have Normal and Snow mode. All-wheel drive vehicles will add Off-road mode. If you consider yourself both a city dweller and a country road lover, you will appreciate the ways this mode selector lets you explore the breathtaking destinations in and around Louisville.

The RS Trim

Turn heads at the Kentucky Derby in the RS trim. With a striking dark aesthetic featuring strategically placed black and red accents, the RS trim is for drivers who want to arrive in style, whether they’re going to shows at Fourth Street Live! or grabbing a drink at the swanky Louisville Marriott downtown.

The RS features black emblems and badging, a black grill, black roof rails, and black mirror caps. Inside, you will find Torch Red and Santorini Blue stitching on all upholstery for a daring and seductive aesthetic. The 19-inch machined wheels will catch attention as they roll by, and you can opt for 20-inch machined ones to really make a statement. The RS debossed front seat headrests will make you and your copilot feel like you’re sitting in the VIP seats. This trim also has a flat-bottom steering wheel, making getting in and out of the vehicle easier and offering a little more legroom. With Louisville being such a center for the arts and fashion, driving such a beautifully designed vehicle is only appropriate. If you want to add to the modern and vibrant aesthetic of the city, get behind the wheel of the RS trim.

A grey 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD towing an RV through a muddy area.

It wasn’t too long ago that deciding on a heavy-duty truck came down to comparing things like price, engines, and performance. A driver from Kentucky would go into a dealership near their home and price out a heavy-duty truck to help them with work or provide the towing and hauling capabilities for their free time. For Charleston drivers heading out for a camping trip, you will want to know that you have a truck capable of towing your camper. Fortunately, today’s trucks have many advanced technology features that can make a difference in deciding the right heavy-duty model for you. Two of the leaders in this class are the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and the 2024 Ford Super Duty F-250.

These models provide a great assortment of cab styles, powertrains, drivetrains, and trim levels to choose from. As a result, you can get the style of heavy-duty truck when you decide between these two solid models. However, there is one thing that sets them apart, and that is technology. You will get more advanced features when you choose the Chevy over the Ford. Charleston is in the heart of truck country. This is why so many drivers looking for a Chevy Silverado 2500 for sale near Charleston head over to Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Paris.

We offer the full lineup of Chevy models, so you can get all the features you desire when you buy your truck here. Our team of sales professionals looks forward to meeting you and helping you decide on your next Silverado 2500 truck. Before you visit us, let’s take a closer look at Silverado 2500 HD and how it offers a better array of tech features that are sure to enhance your time on the job site, at home, and even traveling with your family.

Advanced Camera Technology

One area where trucks have excelled in recent years is camera technology. Let’s face it: hitching a trailer can be a challenging task. Lining up the hitch and the coupler can be difficult unless you have a spare set of eyes helping to guide you. Fortunately, both of these trucks offer advanced camera technologies to help you with the process.

The 2024 Ford F-250 features a Pro Trailer Hitch Assist. This runs through the SYNC 4 infotainment system screen. This system will steer, accelerate, and brake your F-250 until the truck and trailer are lined up. Then, you can simply back up until the hitch is locked. However, this system only works with conventional trailers. So, if you are using a gooseneck or other hitch, this won’t be much help.

Chevy also includes a Hitch Guidance system on all trims of the 2024 Silverado 2500. This centers a guideline on the Rear Vision Camera, which appears in the infotainment system of the truck’s center console. All you have to do is line things up, and you will be ready to hitch your trailer. You can even use this for other types of hitches, not just conventional ones.

Both trucks also offer a number of different camera views for use when trailering. Ford offers a Turn Signal Camera View with Trailer Coverage as an available feature on the F-250. This extends the view from the side of your truck so you can see beyond the trailer’s blind spot when changing lanes. This works with the BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) that is available on the truck. You also get a Rear View Camera, so you can make sure there are no issues with the trailer when you are driving an F-250.

The Silverado 2500 goes beyond these features on the Ford. In fact, you can get up to 14 unique camera views on the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500. Four of these alone are for hitch views, showing you the connection to your truck, the area around your truck and trailer, a top-down view, and a view from your truck’s payload bed.

Two of the most helpful are the Transparent Trailer and the Rear Side View. The Transparent Trailer lets you see the vehicle behind your truck as if the trailer wasn’t there. This makes up for the loss of your rearview mirror when trailering. The Rear Side View activates when you signal to change lanes. This will let you know if the coast is clear so you can get over when necessary. In fact, the camera on the Silverado 2500 will even show you inside of the trailer so you can check on belongings, livestock, or whatever else you may be driving from Charleston.

Payload Capacity and Truck Bed Tech

Heavy-duty trucks are known for their ability to haul heavy cargo loads. This is certainly the case with the 2024 Silverado 2500 and the 2024 Ford F-250. However, the Chevy truck has more payload capacity no matter which payload bed size you choose.

Both of these models offer a standard and a long-size bed. The Silverado 2500’s standard bed measures 6’9″ and can hold up to 69.5 cu.ft. of cargo. This is significantly more than the 6’8″ standard bed on the F-250, which only has 65.4 cu.ft. of cargo space. You see the same thing with the long bed, each of which measures 8’2″. Despite having the same-sized beds, the Chevy can fit up to 83.5 cu.ft. of cargo, while the Ford only has room for 78.5 cu.ft.

Loading and unloading cargo will also be easier with the Chevy Silverado 2500. Both of these models feature rear corner bumper steps and integrated bed steps to help you get up and into your truck’s payload box. They also include a durable tailgate to help you load, unload, and access the cargo that your truck is carrying. However, only Chevy offers a Multi-Flex Tailgate with six separate functions.

Like other tailgates, you can fold it completely down to access cargo. But, once the tailgate is down, you will lose the ability to enter the bed using the bumper step. Chevy addresses this problem by allowing you to fold an interior part down, creating a step up into the payload box. This full-width step can hold up to 375 lbs of weight, so you will have no problem carrying things up and into your truck’s payload.

The Multi-Flex Tailgate also has a primary gate load stop. All you have to do is fold down the tailgate and pop up the gate stop. This allows you to carry extra-long items without worrying that they may slide out of the truck while you are driving. You can even adjust the load stop by folding down only the top portion of the tailgate for shorter objects.

One of the most unique features for Charleston drivers who spend the majority of their day at the job site is the ability to create a workstation out of your tailgate. Simply fold down the inner portion of the tailgate, and you can use this for everything from blueprints to a laptop computer. If you add the available 120V outlet to your Silverado 2500’s bed, you can even use this at a job site for your power tools.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Today’s modern truck drivers rely on their infotainment screen for a number of duties, which include keeping them connected and entertained, no matter where their daily travels take them. These advanced features provide you with crucial information while driving and allow you to connect your smartphones using such technology as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This provides you with the ability to make hands-free calls and texts while streaming your favorite apps, including ones for music and navigation.

The Ford F-250 comes with a SYNC 4 system on an 8-inch color touchscreen, with the ability to get a 12-inch screen as an added feature. Similarly, the Chevy Silverado 2500 features the Chevrolet Infotainment System on a 7-inch screen, with an available 13.4-inch screen. As you can see, the main difference between the two is that Chevy offers a larger available screen than Ford.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Has the Tech Modern Drivers Are Looking For

As you can see, heavy-duty trucks have used technology to improve their capabilities in a number of ways. This is certainly true of the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 and the 2024 Ford F-250. However, of these two trucks, Chevy has gone further with its heavy-duty truck model than Ford. The Chevy has more available camera technology than the Ford truck. It can fit more cargo in its payload bed while making loading and unloading easier with the Multi-Flex Tailgate. The Chevy also provides you with a larger available infotainment screen. For Charleston drivers who want to use their heavy-duty trucks for work or a fun trip into the wilderness, the choice seems clear. If you want to tap into the latest technology to get the most out of your heavy-duty truck, you should make your next one a 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD.

A red 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST driving by a lake.

The Silverado 1500 is celebrating 25 years as part of the Chevy family, and it has undergone some incredible changes during its time on the market. As a dealership that sells both new and used Silverado models, we work with many drivers who want to know the significant differences between one generation and the next. These days, vehicles change quickly. It seems that every year, Chevy introduces new technology and feature options to the Silverado. So, moving back just a couple of years in the lineup can mean finding a completely different model.

With the 2024 Silverado on the market now, we wanted to take a moment to go over what is new for the 2024 model and what major changes have occurred throughout this past generation. If you are looking for a Chevy Silverado 1500 for sale near Bardstown, we hope you will pay us a visit. We are well-versed in the specific features of every generation of the Silverado 1500.

Standout Features of the 2019 Silverado 1500

The big news for the 2019 model, the first one of the current generation, was its weight. Chevy made major changes in the materials used to trim down roughly 450 lbs of weight from the Silverado in the crew cab models. This results in a much more fuel-efficient model that also feels easier to maneuver. Surprisingly, while the 2019 model returned lighter than ever, it actually increased in nearly every dimension, increasing cargo and passenger volume.

The year 2019 was also exciting because we got the trail trims for the first time. More specifically, the Custom Trail Boss and the LT Trail Boss. The Custom Trail Boss gets a 2-inch suspension lift for better ground clearance, a locking rear differential that lets you lock the rear wheels so they spin at the same speed, skid plates, off-road tires, and other off-road treats. The LT Trail Boss Builds on the LT trim with a 2-inch suspension lift, rear locking differentials, off-road tires, and skid plates.

The popular Durabed showed up for the first time in 2019 as well. This highly durable bed resists damage and is ready for workers, DIYers, and adventures to load all sorts of materials and gear into it.

Standout Features of the 2020 Silverado 1500

In 2020, the focus was heavily on trailing features. New trailering mirrors were added. These extend further than typical side mirrors, helping you see all the way around your towed vessel. Several new cameras were also added, offering trailer views and making it easier for drivers to see what is happening in, around, and behind their trailer. Plus, a Bed View Camera was added so drivers can monitor the contents of their bed on the touchscreen.

It’s also worth noting that the popular 6.2L V8 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission became available on the Custom Trail Boss, RST, and LT Trail Boss this year. This brought the hefty power of the V8 to those wanting the off-road performance of the Trail Boss trims or the street styles of the RST.

A white 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country towing a boat.

Standout Features of the 2021 Silverado 1500

In 2021, Chevy introduced what will likely be one of the most popular features of the Silverado for many years, the Multi-flex tailgate. This unique and extremely useful tailgate boasts six positions, including a secondary load stop, standing desk, footstep, and other useful positions. On days when you get a lot of things at the Walmart supercenter, you’ll love all the ways you can load and secure your items in the Multi-flex tailgate.

Apple and Android compatibility had been available on the Silverado previously, but only in 2021 did wireless compatibility become available. So, for the first time, drivers could power up their smartphones and sync them up to the touchscreen without the use of cords.

Standout Features of the 2022 Silverado 1500

Off-road enthusiasts who like to spend weekends tackling trails at Rock Castle Exploring River Bypass should look at 2022 and newer models because 2022 is when the Silverado got the ZR2 trimmed. This brought unprecedented off-road capabilities to the Silverado, and it has even been recognized for its incredible desert off-road racing achievements. With front and rear e-lockers and special dampers, the ZR2 is ready to give you a smooth ride and traction when you need it in off-road environments.

Drivers who commute to nearby Louisville will also like 2022 and newer models because this was the year when Super Cruise made its debut. Super Cruise is Chevy’s hands-free driving assistance technology that takes over accelerating, braking, and steering on compatible roads. When your arms get tired on long drives, you’ll love having this system take over some of the work for you.

Standout Features of the 2023 Silverado 1500

There were not many changes in 2023; however, the Duramax turbo diesel engine saw a horsepower increase of 10 percent, while the torque increased by over seven percent. So, for drivers who need to tow vessels to My Old Kentucky Home Campground, you can now do so with more confidence with this powerful engine.

A red 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 parked at a side angle.

Standout Features of the 2024 Silverado 1500

We finally arrive at the 2024 Silverado 1500. There were a few strategic and convenient upgrades made to this model. A major one is the Rear Seatbelt Indicator. It will notify you if your rear seat passengers aren’t buckled up, which comes in handy when taking rowdy kids to Bardstown Elementary School. Between eating their snacks and reading their books, they might forget to buckle up, but the Silverado will remind them.

On the safety front, Front and Rear Park Assist became available for the 2024 model in the safety packages. If you want extra help getting into tight parking spots in the Silverado, you will love having this sensor system on your truck that helps you avoid scratches and dings when parking.

We can’t talk about the 2024 Silverado without mentioning that this is the year Chevy introduced the electrified version of this terrific full-size pickup truck. The Silverado EV has an estimated range of 450 miles on a full charge, making it more than ready for long trips across the Bluegrass Parkway. With standard DC fast charging, you can power up your EV Silverado in a hurry. Plus, it offers a 10.2 kW generator, helping you power up tools and gear wherever you go, even when an outside power source is unavailable.

A blue 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 driving up a dirt hill.

You may be on the fence about what pickup truck you want to buy, especially if you’re interested in what Chevy has to offer. After all, Chevrolet is known for its superior selection of top-performing trucks and as you’re rolling down Springfield Road, you’ll see plenty of Silverado 1500 and Colorado models cruising past you. Whether they’re on their way to work or to the wilderness, it’s safe to say that these trucks hold their own in any environment, and if you’re looking for a full-size truck, the Silverado won’t let you down.

At Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Paris, we’re the best place to find the Chevy Silverado 1500 for sale near Bardstown; however, if you’re also interested in the Colorado, let us help you figure out which truck will work best for your needs. So, how does the Silverado 1500 compare and contrast to the Colorado? Let’s find out.

Both Are Part of an Iconic Brand

Both of these trucks are Chevys through and through, which means that they offer a level of reliability and strength that’s difficult to find in rivals. The Silverado 1500 and Colorado showcase a durability that’s simply unparalleled, and when it comes to features, neither truck is lacking in this respect. Chevy is known for offering vehicles that are packed with the features and capabilities you need for prices you can afford, and the Silverado 1500 and Colorado are perfect examples of this. Chevy is also recognized for offering plenty of options in its lineup, with both the Silverado 1500 and Colorado showcasing an arsenal of powertrain and trim choices, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for in your next truck.

One Is a Full-Size Truck, One Is a Midsize

If a Silverado 1500 and Colorado pull up next to you as you’re sitting at a redlight, you’ll notice that these two trucks vary in size. That’s because the Silverado 1500 is considered a full-size truck, while the Colorado is a midsize truck. In addition to the Silverado being bigger and a bit meatier than the Colorado, you’ll also notice that it includes different features, which we’ll get into a bit later, as well as different capabilities. Full-size trucks are more capable than their midsize siblings, which is why many of them are top picks for those searching for capable workmates, while midsize trucks are often chosen by those who want a truck that’s capable and easy to maneuver around Bardstown.

Both Are Off-Road Capable

When you’re taking a little weekend jaunt to Dolan Mountain Road for a bit of time off the beaten path, rest assured that both trucks are exceptionally capable of providing you with a one-of-a-kind off-road experience. Both the Silverado 1500 and the Colorado can be armed with ZR2 capabilities, which include features, such as 33-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, a suspension lift, and more durable elements.

Opting for the ZR2 Bison Edition will intensify your adventures, with AEV (American Expedition Vehicles) front and rear bumpers, larger tires, and more AEV branding throughout. You’ll also find other off-road oriented trims in both the Silverado 1500 and Colorado’s lineups, like the Trail Boss and Z71 models, giving you plenty of options to find what works for your excursions out in the wilderness.

There Are Towing and Hauling Differences

If you’re looking to complete tough work on the Mago Construction site, you’ll want to be sure that you choose a truck that can take on the daunting tasks of the day. The Silverado 1500 showcases better towing and hauling marks than the smaller Colorado, which makes this truck better equipped to handle a tough workday. With its 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel and its 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 able to tow up to 13,300 lbs, compared to the Colorado which maxes out at 7,700 lbs, it’s clear that the Silverado 1500 is the better workmate. It can also haul more, with a maximum payload rating of 2,260 lbs, opposed to the Colorado’s 1,684-lb payload rating. If you’re looking for a truck to take to any Bardstown construction site, the Silverado 1500 is the top choice here.

A close-up shows the black wheel of a white 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison.

Both Showcase Class-Leading Beds

Both the Silverado 1500 and the Colorado offer beds that are at the top of their classes, built with durability and strong foundations to make it easy to handle anything during your journey. The Silverado 1500 offers best-in-class cargo volume of 89.1 cu. ft., as well as 12 standard tie-downs, allowing it to handle more materials for a project at home or for work. The Colorado is also impressive, offering 41.9 cu.ft. of space in its bed and eight standard tie-downs to secure gear, materials, and more, no matter what’s on the agenda for the day.

One Offers the Multi-Flex Tailgate

If you’re searching for a truck with a multifunctional tailgate, you’ll find it in the Silverado 1500. This feature is available on all trims and configures six unique ways to accommodate more gear. From taking on long, cumbersome loads to helping you access your bed with ease, the Multi-Flex Tailgate is a true gem in the Chevy arsenal. Although the Colorado does not offer this multifunctional design, it does showcase the available StowFlex tailgate, which provides you with a lockable storage compartment to secure tools, valuables, and more.

Both Showcase an Assortment of Trims

There are many flavors of both the Silverado 1500 and the Colorado to choose from, making these two trucks some of the best picks in the industry. You’ll find everything from high-end travelers, featuring premium materials and a luxury essence, to rugged off-road ready adventurers and even simple work trucks, appealing to various budgets and lifestyles. If you want more of a selection, the Silverado 1500 will provide this to you as it offers a few more trims than the Colorado offers, allowing it to appeal to more Bardstown travelers.

Different Levels of Tech Can be Expected

When it comes to innovation, although both the Silverado 1500 and the Colorado offer outstanding options to their drivers, you’ll find a bit more inside the Silverado. For one, there’s a larger touchscreen available, a 13.4-inch option, as opposed to the Colorado’s 11.3-inch display. You’ll also find more camera views available in the Silverado, which offers up to 14 camera views to help you see better both around your truck and your haul. The Colorado offers up to ten available camera views, so if you want to paint a better picture of what resides around you as you travel Route 150, the Silverado is the better pick.

Which Chevy Pickup Should You Choose?

Both of these Chevy icons are impressive, especially when it comes to performance, design, capabilities, and features. If you’re looking for a truck that’s easy to maneuver, practical, and pleasantly capable, the Colorado is a good choice. For those who require a bit more power in their ride through Bardstown and beyond, the Silverado 1500 will provide this to you. Its engines are able to tow more, haul more, and outperform the Colorado, while its trim selection is larger as well, allowing you to choose from a more versatile set of options.

You’ll also find that there’s more tech inside the Silverado, especially when it comes to camera views. In addition, you’ll notice that, unlike the Colorado, the Silverado 1500 can be armed with Super Cruise hands-free driving capabilities, revolutionizing the way you travel on board this Chevy legend. In the end, if you want to get more out of your ride, the Silverado 1500 is the winner here, and while both trucks showcase an all-around spectacular experience, there’s no competing with the mighty Silverado.

The long and storied rivalry between the Silverado 1500 and Ford F-150 dates back decades at this point, and that rivalry continues to this very day. For drivers looking to purchase a 2024 model year Chevy Silverado 1500 for sale near Huntington, or thinking about buying a 2024 Ford F-150, there are a few reasons why the Silverado 1500 might be a better buy for you.

If you’re not sure why the Chevy beats the Ford for Huntington drivers, we have a few reasons for you to explore in order to help make the buying decision easier. This rings especially true if you’re looking for a good work truck to help with commuting and with daily driving. So for those of you out there considering a newer model year light-duty pickup, here are four reasons why Huntginton drivers should get a 2024 Silverado 1500 over a 2024 Ford F-150.

#1. Better Fuel Economy

There’s a solid mixture of residential streets in Huntington, some close-quarter urban cross-sections, and long highways that intersect throughout the city. You have a strong mixture of frequent stop and go traffic when you’re in the inner city, and more long stretches of roadway as you travel or commute outside of the city. For that, you need a vehicle that can provide you with great fuel economy for bumper-to-bumper traffic, and great fuel economy for long-distance travel, too.

For those of you considering a full-size pickup truck, between the F-150 and Silverado 1500, the two offer some great fuel economy depending on the powertrain and trim, but you can find yourself getting slightly better gas mileage out of the Silverado 1500 overall. The reason for this is because the F-150’s 2024 model tops out its fuel economy at 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway when you pair it up with the twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. If you need something with a bit more range, the 2024 Silverado 1500 offers slightly higher fuel economy.

With the Silverado 1500 paired up with the Duramax inline 6-cylinder turbo-diesel, you can achieve up to 23 MPG in the city and up to 29 MPG on the highway when configured in rear-wheel drive. This provides you with additional mileage over the F-150; in fact, the Silverado 1500 with the Duramax offers up to four more miles to the gallon over the F-150 when it comes to highway travel. If hauling is an important part of your commuting schedule, and you want excellent mileage out of a full-size truck, then the Silverado 1500 provides you with some extra range compared to the F-150.

#2. Larger Cargo Bed Space

If hauling is an important part of your trucking experience, moving goods from one part of town to the other, or you do plenty of recreation activities, then you’re going to want a truck with a cargo bed that provides you with the space and cargo capacity to make your hauling tasks as easy as possible. One way of making hauling easier is having a larger cargo bed, and in that regard, the Silverado 1500 has the F-150 beat in this category.

The F-150 and Silverado 1500 both come in three different bed sizes, but you get a little more space out of each Silverado bed. The F-150 has a 5.5-ft bed that offers 52.8 cu.ft. of cargo volume, a 6.5-ft bed that provides up to 62.3 cu.ft. of cargo volume, and a 8-ft bed that offers 77.4 cu.ft. of cargo volume. In contrast, the Silverado 1500 provides you with three beds that start with a 5.8-ft short bed that manages 62.9 cu.ft. of cargo volume, a standard 6.6-ft bed that manages 71.7 cu.ft. of cargo volume, and a long 8.2-ft bed that provides 89.1 cu.ft. of cargo volume.

In short, you’re looking at much larger amounts of total cargo volume space in the Silverado 1500 compared to the F-150. You get 10.1 cu.ft. of additional cargo volume with the Silverado 1500’s short bed, and up to 9.4 cu.ft. of additional space with the Silverado 1500 for the standard bed over the F-150. If you really need a long bed for a lot of cargo, the Silverado 1500’s offering provides up to 11.7 cu.ft. of additional cargo volume over the F-150. Those are significant numbers in terms of overall value and space, and it’s great for people who want a truck that provides as much space as possible, and the Silverado 1500 is that truck.

#3. A Larger Infotainment Screen

One of the things that might not seem all that important to drivers that actually is important is infotainment. Sure it’s for listening to music or accessing your favorite media playlists, but infotainment suites are also extremely important for other activities, such as checking vehicle health, or navigation. And in that regard, the larger the screen the easier it is to access content on the screen and the less time you have to waste trying to navigate around or fumble to find what you’re looking for. A larger screen just makes everything easier, and that is one added benefit that the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has over the F-150.

To be fair, both trucks have a fairly large touchscreen that is available for shoppers. The F-150 has a standard 12-inch screen across all of the trim lines, and is powered by the Ford SYNC system. The Silverado has a 7-inch screen for the entry-level trim, but offers an available 13.4-inch HD touchscreen for those who want the extra space. This gives you added room and clarity for navigating the touchscreen compared to the F-150. The highlight here means that there is less eye-strain, less having to look down at the screen to see what you’re looking at, and less possibility to misread or miss-see what you’re looking at on the touchscreen.

When you combine the fact that the touchscreen is larger on the 2024 Silverado 1500 and it also has the available Super Cruise on the High Country, with access to more than 400,000 miles of hands-free driving, it gives you an opportunity to let the truck drive for you throughout many streets around the West Virginia area. The 2024 Ford F-150 also has BlueCruise, a semi-autonomous hands-free driving system that offers access to more than 130,000 miles of road across North America, but it obviously pales in comparison to the Silverado 1500’s hands-free system’s extensive capabilities. When you combine that with the larger infotainment suite offered on the 2024 Silverado, it adds a lot more value to Chevy’s truck over Ford’s truck.

#4. Multi-Flex Tailgate

For the current generation of light-duty pickup trucks, there are various multi-function tailgates that offer more than just dampened power opening for accessing the cargo bed. Various top-selling trucks also offer additional functionality to make the tailgate more accessible for different activities, and that applies to both the Silverado and the F-150. For 2024, Ford added a new feature for the F-150’s tailgate to make it more competitive after the Silverado received the Multi-Flex Tailgate.

The F-150’s new multi-functional tailgate is called the Pro-Access Tailgate, which gives you access to a basic dampened opening, but it also has a side-opening door in the middle of the tailgate. The 37-inch door opens sideways in a 20-60-20 tailgate configuration, with various degrees of stop-gaps when opening. This gives you a slight barn-door function to the F-150’s tailgate, the middle opening up adds an extra layer of utility to the F-150, but the Silverado 1500 goes much further with the Multi-Flex Tailgate.

For those looking for a vehicle that offers a lot of great tailgate functionality with cargo box access, making it easy for those using their pickup truck for upfitting, the Silverado 1500’s Multi-Flex Tailgate is a perfect solution. It has six different functionalities, including lowering the lower gate when the tailgate is lowered to work as an access-step into the cargo box. There is also the ability to raise the inner-gate while the tailgate is down to use it as a raised work surface.

You can flip up the inner gate while the tailgate is down to use it as a lowered load-stop, or you can lower the inner gate while the tailgate is raised up to use it as a raised load-stop. These multiple functions give those who need a work truck an awesome utility whether you’re working in downtown Huntington or doing some home construction. This makes it worthwhile for anyone searching for a Chevy Silverado 1500 for sale near Huntington, as it makes for a great commuter truck and a great utility truck.
