What Does the ZR2 Offer?

There are a lot of shared elements between the off-road racing variant and the production model ZR2, including many elements of the chassis, drivetrain, and ladder-type frame3. The ZR2 package comes with either the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder Duramax turbo-diesel that outputs 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque, or the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8, which outputs 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Both come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Additionally, all ZR2 models come standard with the 2-speed Autotrac transfer case for improved torque distribution among all four wheels and front and rear electronically locking differentials so you can utilize the locking differentials to get extra traction control while traveling across difficult or loose terrain. What Configuration of the Chevy Silverado 1500 Is the ZR2 Available For?

For those of you considering an off-road performance model like the ZR2, you do need to consider that it is limited to specific configurations of the Silverado 1500. While the Silverado 1500 is available in three different cab sizes and three different bed sizes, with two different drivetrain configurations (including rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive), the ZR2 is only available in a very specific configuration of the Silverado 1500. Hence, you can only get it when configured in Crew Cab format with the Short Bed. It’s also only available in four-wheel drive format. However, the ZR2 can be customized with eight colors and two different base wheel designs.

Does the Silverado 1500 ZR2 Offer Any Additional Packages?

The ZR2 is available with other packages and options. In fact, you can get various accessories such as running boards, badging accessories, tonneau covers, cargo management, decals, exhaust upgrades, and the Multi-Flex Tailgate for the ZR2.
